Text 3 May Grand Turino

I watched this movie about a year ago, and it really impacted me. Clint Eastwood’s role was an American living in a predominantly Asian neighborhood. At first, he was really mean to them, and used derogatory terms such as Chink. However, he got to know one family and he protected them from a gang. The boy portrayed the typical timid asian, and he was highly feminized. Clint had him come over and do chores for him, and he taught him to do more manly things. From what i remember, he even let him drive his really expensive car. I felt like I was part of the movie because of my asian american background, and that I knew how they felt.

But yea, this movie covered a lot of topics we  went over in class: Hate crimes, feminism, derogatory terms, gangs, rape, etc. I don’t want to go too much in detail about the movie because it will give away the ending. It was an ending I really didnt expect to happen! The movie was really slow and boring at times, but if you key on these topics, you will learn a lot from it.
