Text 2 May too sessy for the catwalk

not to put the group on full blast, but project runway was yet another project that the group got together the nnight before to start and finish HAHAH.

all in all, this was one of the projects that took the biggest toll on me. most of the other projects didnt really phase me too much or effect my other classes, but i stayed up so late and got up so early that i didnt get have enough time to study for my exam! yikes! anyways, it was fun haha

our plan was to enlighten folks on the current evironmental situation that Indonesia was in. Indonesia suffers through a lot of deforestation, so it was important to us as a group to convey that sad message to the class. it suffers, like most of asia, through lack of fresh water & clean resources for living. Indonesia also suffers through a LOT of poverty and because of the high percentage of poverty, not much is being developed there.

we originally planned to make a wedding dress kinda thing, but we didnt have enough time! so we improvised and decided to make a multi-use coat/skirt wear. it turned out ok, the sewing machine i had wasn’t working to it’s best ability haha.

our story, or from what i can remember, behind the skirt/jacket was that an indonesian women would be working in the fields in the her skirt, but would later have to go back home, so as she’s coming home, she’d take her skirt off and wear it as a coat. pretty cool.

the day of was pretty sweeeet. i was able to eyeball all the other group’s fashion peices & i hella remember Carlo wearing his rice hat, literally. hahaha. goodshit for that one! i also learned a lot of stuff from the other countries. for ex: Korea & their military & nuclear bomb usage & the impact it had on its peoples…. also, Japan’s mail order wives. the dress was so amazing! props!

overall, this project was pretty tight. being able to see the physical aspects of the different asian countries. =)
