i was raised around alll sorts of races & ethnicities. it was never a question to me that i got a taste of all sides of the globe, but it never really occured to me how much these different cultures impacted my life.
in highschool, i had a lot of Latino friends. i was so inrooted with their culture & values that I even got offended when an ignorant fool would call the general Latino population MEXICANS. just like how Asians don’t like to be stereotypically called CHINESE, “mexicans” are not all mexican. it’s like calling a Korean a Japanese or an Indonesian an Indian. TOTALLY different. lol LATINOS are not all mexican, there ARE differences, just like how being Asian is an umbrella term. ok. back to the relation of this blog to Asian Americans LOL! (see look. there i go with the Latinos hahahaha)
so as i was into their culture, i hung out with them a lot, ate a lot of their food, etc. one of my bestfriends are Latina. some things i’ve noticed about them (not entirelly all bad, but just some speculations i’ve made throughout the years), enjoy:
Latinos:
- unintentional disrespect at the house, they more than often did not know to take off their shoes at the door
- didn’t realize how important it was to say hello to guests/family/friends, acknowledging someone’s presence is VITAL in chinese culture
- they cuss a lot without realizing it lol
- eat a lotttt of meat & cheese (flatulation occurs in allllll people, not just Asians when it comes to dairy products, they’re no different!!!!) hhahahaha
- are either Christians in FULL THROTTLE, or do not believe in ANY religion at all. there’s really no inbetween
- don’t care for academics as much as i do
- like to comb their hair and take the hair off their brushes and put em everywhere. hella interesting LOL
- listen to a LOT of hyphy music.
- hardly EVER poetic =X
- whenever they get hurt or injured, they prey & recite old sayings
- VERY overly possesive hahahah, gf/bf & even friendships!
- talk a whole lotta shit about their own friends………. yup.
- if they had a job, they’d blow a loooot of their money on shoes & clothes. if they didn’t they’d blow their PARENTS money on a looooot of shoes & clothes
Asians:
- takes off their shoes the MINUTE they step into the house. when you walk throughout the house in your shoes, you’re bringing in OUTSIDE into the INSIDE, which is bad & unlucky & just dirty hahaha
- they always acknowledge the parentals existence as a way of respect and thanks
- always ask whether you’re hungry or have eaten yet. Chinese folks do this because usually when people come to your home, they’ve generally traveled a somewhat long time to get to your house, so it’s important to ask if they’ve eaten. it gives the hosts an understanding of the wellbeing of the guests.
- they offer to wash dishes after eating at your house. this takes off the hassle, especially after being FED by the host. motives of Chinese people are to hassle people as LEAST as possible and by doing dishes, it shows thanks & prevents the host from hassling about dishes.
- they converse with the parentals & family & friends. Asians are actually pretty talkative people, especially when it comes to dating. i’ve learned that if you don’t speak up, they will never know who you truly are. the more you talk about yourself, the more the families get to know what type of hardworking gal you are :) hehehe.
- ASIDE from TALKING, it’s SO important to KNOW WHEN to listen. In chinese culture, listening is more important than speaking. listening to people in general talk helps me gain knowledge. being knowledgable about things & speaking on it is A LOT better than being unknowledged and talking & looking like a fool.
- they save A LOT MORE MONEY. Asians are a lot more money conscious when it comes to a LOT of things. entertainment = bootleg movies, utilize household things for fun & play. wardrobe = constant care & mix matching, yet still looking good.
- eat a lot of fish & crazy herbal stuff.
- get sick less because of their QUICK & effective remedies. whenever injured or hurt, they don’t recite, they actually put on herbal remedies or take asian pills or make asian soups. that eastern medicine is killer :)
these speculations actually come hand in hand when i dated Latino guys. they ALL lacked things that ASIAN guys have….. let me tell ya! good thing i found me a great guy that just so happens to be Asian! my first asian bf :) Gia Do you’re fine as hell =X
i don’t decide to date a guy or hang out with a friend because of their race lol. now, it’s not a matter of what race they are, it’s actually a matter of mental & emotional stability that the opposing sex has. for me, it just so happens that i found an outgoing asian stud. haaaaaaaaaahehehe.
