Text 2 May flash me why don’tcha! ;)

it was our initiative, as students and as Asian Americans, to pass a message along to the general public. utilizing our own and our peer’s experiences and knowledge, we put together a flashmob/gurilla warfare demonstration for the pub! sometimes people don’t wanna read articles, the paper, listen to forums, watch documentaries, etc. sometimes we just gotta give people a “shock and awe” demonstration in order for facts to set IN.

the preparation process was pretty intense. for the first time, the class broke up into groups other than their own home groups. I LOVED THIS, not that i was tired of noMSG! (i’d never be hahaha they get the jizz of it!), but because working with my other classmates was one of my goals for the semester. FINALLY, to be able to see the qualities and perserverance of the other members of eths210 was amazing and unbelievable! i originially had a plan to use a “TRUTH COMMERCIAL” kinda template for the flashmob, so as i shared it with the wonderful AUDIO CREW, they really liked it. Being able to communicate with Carlo, Ricky, Sunny, Steven, and Raeann throughout the process was good too. Noticed that everyone was into it as much as i was =) haha so Ricky, Sunny, & I went back and forth a few times trying to get the finishing touches to the facts, and finally!!!! the flashmob was time to be put into full effect!

the only thing i can remember is ricky constantly tellin me he was nervous, which got me nervous, which wasnt good HAHA. when the minute came to dance our asses off, the ENTIRE class did it. i had hella people tell me that it was amazing to watch & the message was definitely more than effective! HELL YES.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

i could vividly recall a teacher saying to the James Denman middle school kids “so kids, this is called a flash mob, so when you guys go to college, you guys can do flash mobs” haha. our message reached a lil beyond college folk, but to fresh minds, too! couldn’t ask for nothing better as a midterm assignment =)

Back in 1882, it was constitutional ruling that the Chinese were denied enrty in the U.S. It was called the Chinese Exclusion Act

According the a report by the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, Investigators determined that 6.6% of the nation offenses reflected an anti-Asian or anti-Pacific Islander bias.

A nationwide Hate Crimes Statistics study done by the FBI, jumped from 317 in 2000 to 363 in 2001. and has been growing ever since.

California doesn’t consider it a “Hate Crime” when it’s an “Asian”

. Imagine your race getting killed off or denied. Would you wanted your race to be erased and or denied? Or do you want to stand up for justice?”

orr isssssssssss it? ethnic studies 210 gave the world a lil peice of mind that day =) Flash me why don’tcha! ;)
